WHAT ARE HOUSE GROUPS?

House Groups generally start up to enable those who attend to make a deeper study of the Bible than is possible in a church service. However they tend to develop from that.

Bible study usually remains a major part of their programme but other Christian material is used too. This can be books e.g. If you want to walk on water you've got to get out of the boat by John Ortberg; study packs on ethical issues e.g. our wise use of money, or understanding recent advances in genetics; seasonal material relating to Easter or Christmas; packs with reproductions of art both Christian and secular; packs produced by Christian organisations, e.g. Christian Aid or Methodist Relief and Development Agency, relating to 'world' issues such as poverty and climate change

I could go on but perhaps you get the idea that the breadth of what we look at week by week is almost without limits.

Members of these groups become very supportive of each other without, we hope, of becoming a clique, and may act in a way similar to the old Methodist "Class Meeting" to which every member of the Methodist Church once belonged.

The overriding reason for their being is to enable people to grow in their Christian faith

There are 4 groups at the moment connected with this church. They cover daytime, evening and weekends making them accessible to all.

If you are interested send an email to any of the individual groups as shown on their web page or to enquiries@shmc.org.uk

If you are not sure which one you would like to go to, why not have a taster and visit each of them. You'll get a warm welcome.
