This group meets alternate Wednesdays in term time at 2 - 4 pm in the homes of some of its members. There is no problem if you are not able to come on time or need to go early as we are a very flexible, informal group and you won't be the only person who this applies to.

The following gives an idea of some of the subjects we have looked at in the last few years:

  • Biblical studies: Old Testament Prophets, Judges, the Beatitudes
  • During Advent/Christmas and in Lent we use appropriate seasonal material
  • Christian life in the 21st Century: Genetics, healing, slavery in previous years and today, poverty, climate change, being an Eco-Congregation

During the autumn we will finish the study on "Women in the New Testament" and then use an Advent/Christmas study. We will meet fortnightly from 15th September. For venues please make contact using the email address below.

Occasionally we make visits to places of interest connected with our topics: Kendal to see the Quaker Tapestry; Liverpool to see the Slavery Gallery at the Maritime Museum; Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester to see ecclesiastical embroidery.

We ensure that the places we visit have a good cafe!

We had a trip to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral in autumn 2009 particularly to see the embroidery and work being done by Sister Anthony.

We have another planned in September 2010 to Leek to find out more about quilts and quilting

Our DIY Christmas Buffet and July Strawberry Tea are also highlights of the year!
