The Millennium project took the next step in modernising the church building. The choir pews were removed, the rail and area round the communion table was redesigned, new carpet was laid and a new warm, pink colour scheme was used. It was “opened” on Advent Sunday 2000 to general pleasure.
The fundraising for this project marked the start of the principle we have used ever since in that 10% of all of our fundraising for projects in the church and hall buildings goes to charity. Every year we have been enabled to give substantial amounts to local, national and international charities suggested by our members in addition to the amounts given to long-standing Methodist and other Christian charities.
Since then small changes have been made to the building along with developing a PA and multi-media system to enhance our worship
We are now on a further major modernising project as described in the “Redevelopment” pages. Work has started (summer 2009) and will proceed as we have the funds available.
